The wholesale prices of sugar and wheat flour have been increased, the Essential Food Commodities Importers and Traders Association said.
Its Chairman Nihal Seneviratne said the wholesale price of a kilogram of sugar has been increased by Rs.25 from Rs.225 to Rs.250.
He said that India’s restriction of sugar exports has resulted in increased prices.
Meanwhile, the wholesale price of a kilogram of wheat flour has been increased by Rs.10 from Rs.200 to Rs.210.
The reason for this is the removal of the three-rupee tax concession imposed on wheat flour.
