The All Ceylon Samurdhi Bank General Association said that they will apply for sick leave today (06) in protest of not receiving solutions to their demands.
Association’s President N.A.M.I.B. Abeysinghe said that they are engaged in the trade union action over issues related to Samrudhi employees’ composition and allowances.
Mr. Abeysinghe further said that several other associations have also expressed their willingness to support their strike.
However, MP Jagath Kumara said resorting to such strikes when the country is going through an economic crisis cannot be accepted.
Meanwhile, Water Supply Joint Trade Union Alliance Co-convener Upali Ratnayake said their trade union action will be continued until the authorities provide solutions to their issues.
