Arsenic tinned fish to be returned to China

Forty-eight containers of substandard tinned fish will be returned to China, Customs officials said.

Speaking to media, Customs spokesman Sunil Jayarathne had said that the consignment of 768 MT, is amounted to Rs. 384 million in value.

The Sri Lanka Standards Institute had rejected the imported stock as it contained arsenic, a heavy metal, in excess of the approved limits, he added.
