Sri Lanka Cricketer Kusal Janith Perera is set to earn US$ 500,000 as compensation from World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) after being wrongfully suspended for failing a drug test in December 2015, reports say.
Negotiations between WADA and Kusal Perera’s legal team are in the last stages and the wicketkeeper batsman will be paid the compensation plus the costs that were involved in fighting his case.
Perera was suspended by the ICC after a Qatar based lab found a banned substance in the player’s urine samples.
However, the charges were dropped in May 2016 after a Paris based lab found that Qatar’s findings were not sustainable.
When Perera was provisionally suspended for failing the urine test, he was facing a four year ban from cricket.
