This is America's fight too: US Secretary of State Pompeo after Easter Sunday Attacks in Sri Lanka


US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo speaking during the daily media briefing said the US stands with the millions of Sri Lankans who support the freedom of their fellow citizens to worship how they please.

The death toll in the explosions reported on Sunday has increased to 310 persons.

The Police Media unit said 500 individuals are still receiving treatment following injuries sustained in the blasts.

Eight blasts hit parts of Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa on Sunday morning with more than 200 persons killed in the explosions.

The terror attacks were witnessed by churchgoers as explosions hit the St. Anthony’s Church in Kochchikade, the Katuwapitiya Church in Katana and the Zion Church in Batticaloa.

Three leading hotels, the Kingsbury, Cinnamon Grand and Shangri-La Colombo also came under terror attack killing several persons including tourists.

Explosions spilled over to Sunday afternoon as three more blasts were confirmed, one in Dehiwela and another in Dematagoda.
