Fonseka to the Security Council: Did 'RAW' tip cancel May Day rallies?

A group of Members of Parliament and local politicians are ready  to request President Maithripala Sirisena to appoint Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to the National Security Council.

It is said that this group is due to ask the President to obtain the service of the former Army Commander, who is the most eligible man to handle security affairs.

RAW tip canceled May Day rallies

Meanwhile, media have reported that the authorities have canceled May Day rallies of all political parties, due to alerts issued by  the Indian intelligence agency, RAW.

Earlier this month, the Indian intelligence agencies had warned of such attacks even before the Easter Day attacks.

It is also believed that this is the first time that such a threat has been posed to holding  May Day rally since the assassination of the then President Ranasinghe Premadasa by a LTTE terrorist attack in May 1993.
