Biggest international cricket ground in SL to be built in Homagama

Minister Bandula Gunawardena has announced that Sri Lanka’s biggest international cricket ground will be built in Homagama.

The ground, with a 40,000 seating capacity and Day/Night cricket facilities, will be built within 03 years, he said.

He further added that 26 acres of land has been allocated for the project in Diyagama, Homagama.

Minister Gunawardena was speaking today (17) when he visited the proposed site along with Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva.

However, as the move has been questioned on social media as to whether it is actually a priority as Sri Lanka's economy is struggling in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic.
